"한푼이라도 더 싸게"…식품도 온라인서 산다

G마켓(www.gmarket.co.kr)에 따르면 올 상반기 식품 카테고리는 전년 동기 대비 100% 이상 증가했다. 이는 G마켓 전체 성장율과 비교했을 때도 가장 가파른 축에 속하는 것. 이를 반영하듯 G마켓 구영배 대표는 최근 기자와 만난 자리에서 “식품 카테고리는 차세대 G마켓의 성장동력”이라고 말한 바 있다.

 

식품 카테고리 중 특히 눈길을 끄는 부분은 지자체와 연계한 농축산물 부분. G마켓은 지난해 7월 전국 우수 지자체가 인증하는 '대한민국 프리미엄 지역 홍보관'을 G마켓 사이트 내에 오픈한 바 있다. 이 홍보관은 현재 11개 지방자치단체가 직접 품질을 인정하는 프리미엄급 농특산물을 판매하는 곳으로, 오픈 후 1년만에 판매량이 5배로 증가했다. 안전 먹거리에 대한 요구가 커짐에 따라 지자체가 인증한 지역 특산물에 대한 수요가 증가한 것과 관련 있다. ‘서천 동백쌀’(4만 2000원, 20kg)은 6월 한 달간 3억원의 판매고를 기록하는 등, 관련 상품의 인기는 나날이 증가하고 있다.

한우도 인기 식품 중 하나로, G마켓은 2006년부터 ‘한우 잡는 날’ 코너를 운영하고 있다. 이 코너에서 만나 볼 수 있는 ‘장수 한우’는 현재 온라인몰 중 G마켓에서 단독 판매되고 있다. ‘장수 한우’는 해발 650m 이상의 금강과 섬진강의 발원지 인근 청정지역에서 자란 1등급 한우다. 구입 시, '한우 도축증명서'가 발급돼 소비자들이 믿고 구매할 수 있어 큰 인기를 끌고 있으며, 올해 6월 기준 전년 동기 대비 195% 증가했다.

이밖에도 친환경 식품관 카테고리는 6월 기준 전년동기 대비 218% 판매량이 증가했다. 또한 건강/음료/가공식품 카테고리는 94% 증가해 눈길을 끈다.

 

G마켓 식품운영팀의 이진영 팀장은 “식품의 경우 올해 평균 97% 정도 판매가 증가하고 있으며 한우 및 농수산품의 인기가 높다”고 설명했다. 또한 “특히 설과 추석을 전후해 판매량이 급증, 올해 1월 4째 주 최고 판매량을 기록한 바 있으며, 올 추석에도 최고치를 기록할  것으로  기대하고 있다”고 전했다.
